Emmaus Brighton & Hove is one of around 400 furniture reuse projects that operate around the UK collecting unwanted furniture and selling it on again giving these items a new lease of life along with dramatically reducing what goes to landfill.

Reuse is when an item becomes unwanted by its current owner but is still considered to be usable and have economic value and where there is still a demand for it by another person.

Recycling involves processing used materials into new products.

By reusing and recycling you’re also doing a great deal to help reduce:

• The consumption of scarce natural resources
• The millions of tonnes of waste that go to landfill
• Air pollution (from incineration)
• Energy usage
• Water pollution (from landfill)
