“The goodwill co-op enables people to use their energies and talents to help those who are less fortunate than themselves”
Terry Waite, President of Emmaus UK.
The Goodwill co-op was set up to:
Bring people together who felt isolated in the local Community, not knowing their neighbours or for those who felt excluded.
An opportunity for like minded creative people to meet, share skills, stories and life.
Give an opportunity for people to get involved with Emmaus and for some to regain a sense of worth and contribute something towards helping others in greater need.
Help reduce landfill by recycling and reusing more.
Raise the profile of Emmaus both locally and nationally along with introducing new people to the work we do.
The Goodwill co-op holds weekly get-togethers and an opportunity for those wanting to find out more can drop in and say hello. Members can come along any time the shop is open and pick up supplies of fabric, wool, and other crafts supplies which they can either take home to work with or they can use the craft room. The Goodwill co-op members, between them produce 100’s of items ranging from painted glass jars, knitted items, wooden bird boxes, jewellery, patchwork quilts, cushions, funky leg warmers, bags, cards, and paintings to name but a few lines of merchandise.
All the handmade gifts carry the name of the person who has given their time and creativity to make and as such connect the maker with the recipient of the gift.
You can find out when the group meets on our sales and events page.
