Open day

Saturday 26th June

Every year on the last Saturday of June we invite the local Community to join us for our family fun day from 10 am to 4.30 pm in our beautiful grounds.

We will have all the favorites like our fantastic tombola – homemade cake stall – great food from our catering team including a tasty BBQ – guided tours - raffle – sideshows – ball in a china shop (like smash the plate) – fair-trade stall- exhibitions – a chance to learn more about the history of the site – ice cream cones, candy floss and lots more.

Now is the time to be thinking about entering a Scarecrow for our scarecrow festival. This is the 2nd year that this has been held at Emmaus and we would really like lots of schools, community groups and individuals to get creative and get involved so that we can make this a bigger and better event every year.

This year you will also have the chance to meet a very “Special guest” from Doctor Who!

CHILDREN’S AREA (the folly)
This year's theme is fancy dress and disguises. So why not come along in fancy dress and learn how to make masks, wigs, bags, glasses and jewellery?

We will also have a children’s fancy dress stall selling outfits, story telling and face painting

ENTERTAINMENT MARQUEE
Back for the third year is the popular dog fancy dress competition the Pampered Pooch Parade 3 (even more dressing up).
We have a fantastic recycled fashion display from pupils from Brighton & Hove

Sussex band “Earholy catastrophe” will be here to entertain the crowds with their glamtastic glam rock music (another reason to dress up in your glad rags!)

THE FOREDOWN TOWER ASTRONOMERS, WORTHING ASTRONOMERS, AND THE BRITISH & IRISH METEORITE SOCIETY MARQUEE
  • The truth about “the dark side” of the moon (working model) learn about why a total eclipse is only seen if you are in the right place.
  • A model of the solar system
  • Solar telescopes
  • Display by the British & Irish Meteorite Society
  • Micro meteorites (Search for them and see with the aid of a microscope)
  • Plasma ball
  • Ask the astronomers.
THE CHAPEL SHOP
Launch of Ordinary2Extraordinary?

What is Ordinary2Extraordinary? Think of Shabby Chic but only better. All the wares in the range have been customised by Emmaus. We have turned unwanted or undesirable goods into beautiful wares. You can probable find goods like this in expensive shops in Brighton but all our goods are at reasonable prices. So come along to the Chapel Shop on our Open Day Saturday 26th June to buy or view this exciting concept. It’s another way in which Emmaus is helping to cut the Carbon Footprint. You can help by buying these wares and at the same time you will be helping the environment.

Sale of vintage linen and the opening of our new picture gallery sales area.

COMMUNITY CAFÉ
The café will be serving a range of freshly prepared sandwiches and jacket potatoes, along with Tea & Coffee (no breakfast today as we have the tasty BBQ outside).

Spread the word and invite all your family and friends and don’t forget to tell everyone that it’s Free Entry to all.
