CARLUCCIO COOKS WITH COMPANIONS
On 27th May the Godfather of Italian cooking Antonio Carluccio visited Emmaus Brighton and Hove to share his culinary skills with Companions. Afterwards, Companions Kat, Martin and Vicki chatted with Carluccio. Antonio said,“I have great admiration for Emmaus and the fantastic work they do, giving self respect back to thousands of people. The Companions do a great job refurbishing and selling donated furniture and need healthy food to keep them going." With his guidance, Companions prepared a tasty Italian lunch of La Parmigiana di Melanzane (baked aubergine with tomatoes and cheese) and green salad, followed by Tiramisu. The results were enjoyed by staff, volunteers and Companions when they all ate lunch together. It was Antonio's second foray into an Emmaus kitchen. In December 2008 he visited Emmaus South Lambeth and cooked a meal with Companions. After this latest visit he said, "I was delighted to be invited to cook with the Companions in Brighton and enjoyed sharing some time and good food with what has grown into a wonderful Community.” |

THE GOODWILL CO-OP
The Goodwill co-op group has been so busy making beautiful handmade gifts that they have nearly run out of wool.We are therefore asking all our visitors, customers, and friends to ask around and see if anyone has any unwanted balls of wool that the Group could use. The Goodwill co-op has now raised £2,400 for the Community through their creativity. New members are most welcome |

The Goodwill co-op
@ Emmaus Brighton & Hove

Supporting Emmaus Brighton & Hove by making & creating unique handmade gifts to raise funds for the community.
When I first heard the words”Goodwill-co-op” it felt very exciting, inspiring, it conjured up aspects of co-operation, community, people sharing, socialising together, creating and exchanging ideas, and that of course is exactly what it has turned out to be.
Our fortnightly meetings are well attended. Around 14/15 members gather together to show the various arts and crafts goods that they have made. There is a great atmosphere of goodwill and co-operation. All the materials used are recycled from our workshop where we have a huge variety of goods.
I’m so pleased to be part of this new venture by EMMAUS in an unique development. This is not just an arts and crafts shop. its not just a members’ co-operative , its a totally original project that combines these things together to create a great Community adventure. We have 50 plus members, so come and join us. We are hoping to arrange some social events in the near future. We also have talks occasionally on Saturdays.
Hope to see you there! Carol
