Emmaus Brighton & Hove is the largest Emmaus Community in the UK. For an explanation of the Emmaus name see Emmaus. We have 40 resident Companions who staff our two shops and café. We are situated in Portslade on the south coast of England 4 miles west of the centre of Brighton. See our travel page for map and directions.

What we collect and sell

The work of the Community centres on the recycling and reuse of good quality donated goods including furniture, electrical goods (not gas), bric-a-brac, clothes, books etc. We will collect and sell it in our shops. We also sell plants grown in our nursery garden. Our popular cafe is open to the public. See our business page for more information.

From our car park there is wheelchair access to our main shop, chapel shop, café, toilets, café patio and garden

We offer a home and work to 40 men and women, many of whom have been homeless. We have been called 'the homeless charity that works'. If you are thinking of applying to live in our community or would like to help someone else apply then you will find more information including our rules, the work residents have to do, and an application form on our referrals page.
