Volunteering with Sussex Emmaus
Our volunteers are extremely important to us, providing a vital contribution in directly helping us to fight homelessness and inequality. Sussex Emmaus has a unique combination of companions, employees, trustees and volunteers; people from different backgrounds who all work alongside each other towards the same goal.
Volunteering is a great way to give back to your local community, learn new skills, gain confidence and meet people from all walks of life.
There’s a wide range of essential roles for volunteers that have a positive impact across our café, retail outlets or greenhouse, whether you can offer a few hours or a regular shift, we’d love to hear from you.
OUTFIT London Road
Outfit London Road will be opening late June/early July 2023 and this role is perfect for anyone who is interested in sustainability and fashion! At OUTFIT London Road they go hand in hand!
Here at OUTFIT we strive to further a culture of reusing, repurposing, waste managing, and recycling fashion.
We manage a wealth of interesting vintage and secondhand stock which changes from week to week. Not only will you get the opportunity to help by prepare our treasure trove of beautiful bargains and high-end designs, but you will also get to work within a friendly team assisting the public with purchases.

CAFE
The Cafe@Emmaus offers friendly service and good food cooked to order – all in a relaxing, welcoming environment. Volunteering with our front of house team involves taking food to tables, making hot and cold drinks, cleaning and tidying. This is a very social role and is mostly a standing role, so suited to those who are happy to be active.

VAN DRIVING
If you have van driving experience, a full clean driving license and knowledge of the local area - we are looking for dedicated Van Driver Volunteers to assist us by carrying out deliveries and collections. This is a physical role, working as part of a team.

RETAIL
From sorting bric-a-brac and clothes to visual merchandising, our busy shops have a variety of roles available both on and off the shop floor. There are multiple opportunities to work across our second-hand superstore, clothing and accessories store ‘Outfit’, bedroom store, or if you love all things vintage? The retro emporium might be a great fit for you.
